A youth was tortured and shot dead by his opponents due to an old dispute in Khurrianwala.

Police registered a case against the suspects and launched raids to arrest them.

According to the police report, the suspect Abid and his five accomplices caught 30-year-old Waseem while he was going to a bazaar in village 62GB and thrashed him before shooting him to avenge their old grievances.

He was rushed to Allied Hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police reached the spot, took the body into custody and handed it over to the heirs after postmortem.

On the complaint of Wasim's brother Naseem, a case was registered against Abid and five other suspects under different sections of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) including 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) and 302 (Punishment for Qatl-i-amd).

Police also started conducting raids to arrest the suspects.

Incidents of murder over enmities are not uncommon across the province.
