‘ICT to become second greenest capital in world’

Apex civic authority will construct two more open gyms in sectors D-12 and I-8.

ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad will become the second greenest federal capital of the world in the next couple of years as most of the millions of rupees worth of projects started by the federal government have landed in their last phase of completion.

The Islamabad administration has completed lane marking on 4,400 kilometres (kms) of thoroughfares and service roads, renovation and rehabilitation of 232 parks along with landscaping of Srinagar Highway, a spokesperson said on Tuesday.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has established open gyms in three parks in sectors I-9, G-9/4 and TNC Park in Sector G-8. The apex civic authority would construct two more open gyms in sectors D-12 and I-8, the official added.

Moreover, the construction of multi-storey parking lots in six different areas of Islamabad is also underway to address parking woes. Two sites each have been chosen in Blue Area and Sector F-10, one in Sector F-8, Khyber Plaza and one near Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.

Furthermore, roadside greenbelts from Islamabad Chowk to Peshawar Mor are being reconstructed with different types of trees while 1,500 new signboards are being installed in different areas of the federal capital too. The paint and garb stonework is also being done on 16 kms of roads.
