Man wanted in cop’s murder killed in encounter

Suspected robbers opened indiscriminate fire on cops as soon as they entered factory

The suspected robber involved in the murder of a police constable a few days back in Mohlanwal area has been killed in a police ‘encounter’ on early Thursday.

Sub-Inspector Imran Yousaf of CIA Model Town said he was deployed near Mohlanwal Chowk along with other policemen when they received information that four suspected robbers involved in shop robberies were holed up in a dysfunctional factory on Multan Road.

A police team was formed to conduct a raid. As they entered the factory the suspected robbers opened indiscriminate fire on cops.

The exchange of fire continued for at least 20-25 minutes. As the police team entered the premises they found a suspect lying in a pool of blood. A 12-bore pump action gun was also lying nearby. Police also recovered 12 bullets of the gun from the crime scene.

The suspect has been identified as Muhammad Asif. The suspect was a proclaimed offender wanted by Kasur police in different cases.

Meanwhile, two police constables of Sundar police station Muhafiz Tariq and Raheel also reached the spot.
