Earlier, on arrival, the COAS was received by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Azhar Abbas.
In February, Gen Qamar had visited a training area in the Thar Desert near Chhor and witnessed an exercise wherein the operational capability of field formations operating in the desert was being tested near a battlefield environment.
While lauding the standard of training of troops, the army chief had said that vigorous training and the highest standard of preparedness in peacetime are the only guarantors of peace, the ISPR added.
"The training exercise Jidar-ul-Hadeed involves integrated manoeuvres of infantry and mechanised forces in a defensive role," the statement added.
On arrival in the field area, the COAS was given a detailed briefing by exercise commander on the aim and objectives of ongoing exercise and drills/procedures being practised to ensure complete dominance of the battlefield.
