Private schools told to teach govt-approved textbooks
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority has directed all the private sector schools to adopt the official curriculum approved by the Directorate of Curriculum in the province as soon as possible.
It warned all the schools that violators will be punished with iron hand and they should implement the decision quickly to avoid the consequences.
Talking to The Express Tribune an official of the Education Department said that each year the regulatory authority issues such notifications but these decisions are seldom implemented by the schools.
There are 31,423 schools in public sector across K-P run by government with 4.4 million students. These government schools follow officially approved curriculum at all levels. On the other hand there are an estimated 14,000 private schools in the province with 1.7 million students. They follow curriculum from the open market till class 8.
