KARACHI: The police have been asked to deploy more security personnel and increase night-time patrolling in commercial areas, business and trade centres and Eid bazaars throughout the province, said Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Friday.

“Law enforcement agencies should be devoted to maintaining peace,” he said. “They should monitor the situation and take prompt action against criminals and terrorists.”

Shah added that the police should speed up the process of inducting more men into the force so that the law and order situation in the province would not be compromised. “The police have been provided with the latest and most sophisticated ammunition and vehicles and I am confident that they will be able to handle their responsibility efficiently,” said the chief minister. He asked the police to appoint a senior police officer as DPO to Tando Muhammad Khan.

Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan and IG Sindh Wajid Durrani updated the chief minister on the law and order situation in city and assured him that peace would be effectively maintained. The meeting was also attended by the special secretary to chief minister, Hafeezullah Abbasi, and police officers.
