Sindh allows opening of bakeries, milk-shops till midnight

Advisory says restaurants, food streets to remain closed; allows home delivery, takeaway, drive-through

KARACHI:

The Sindh government issued a fresh advisory on Wednesday regarding the closure of markets in view of COVID-19, allowing bakeries and milk shops across the province to remain open till midnight.

"Restaurants, food streets to remain closed with no indoor or outdoor dining. However, home delivery, takeaway and drive-through facilities are allowed," read a notification issued today.

"Bakeries and milk-shops are allowed till 12:00 am (midnight)," the communique added.

Earlier this month, as the third wave of the Covid-19 swept across Sindh, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced the closure of all shops, including grocery stores at 6 pm. He also directed that restaurants may not be permitted to offer takeaways after sunset but may continue home deliveries.

"We would further tighten enforcement of SOPs and close Hawkesbay, Seaview and other recreational facilities for visitors," he said while chairing a meeting of the coronavirus taskforce at the CM House.
