Punjab food dept achieves 83% wheat target
Food department has procured 534,446 metric tonnes of wheat against the set target of 638,507 tonnes across Multan division, achieving 83.7 per cent of the mark.
Gunny bags for 589,202 metric tonnes were distributed among wheat growers, which is 92.3 per cent of the total target.
According to food department officials, the disbursement of the gunny bags and procurement of wheat on fixed price of Rs1,800 per maund is continuing in a transparent manner across the division.
All facilities were being extended to wheat growers at procurement centres while implementation on Coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) was also ensured there, they said.
The food department has distributed bags for 170,416 metric tonnes in Multan district, which is 92.3 per cent of the total target, while procuring 157,820 metric tonnes of wheat.
Similarly, bags for 89,205 metric tonnes were distributed in Lodhran, meeting 93.2 per cent of the target and 86,140 tonnes of wheat was procured, while gunny bags for 98,891 metric tonnes have been distributed in Vehari so far with 77.1 per cent of the target achieved and 86,839 tonnes of wheat has been procured so far.
Meanwhile, 230,691 metric tonne gunny bags distribution has been completed so far in Khanewal district, while 203,648 metric tonnes of wheat has been procured.
