Orphaned teenage girl ‘tortured’ to death
Tortured body of a teenage girl was found from a slum in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on the night of Eidul Fitr, police said on Saturday.
Police shifted the body Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem. In this regard, SHO Gulistan-e-Jauhar Abdullah Bhutto told The Express Tribune on Saturday that the girl was identified as 13-year-old Fatima, daughter of Ijaz. She was an orphan living in a hut with her uncle.
He said that some marks were found on the body of the girl which is suspected to have been tortured. However, Lady MLO has done an autopsy and saved the ingredients for the chemical and the cause of death after receiving the report.
Three remanded in kidnap, torture case
SHO Bhutto said that Fatima's parents had died due to which she was living with her uncle Nadeem Solangi.
Neighbours claim that the girl's uncle used to beat her brutally and the incessant torture led to death. Subsequent, police took Nadeem in to custody for questioning.
However, Bhutto said, the suspect denied any wrongdoing, saying his niece died of natural causes due to a disease. Police have kept the body in the morgue and looking for other close relatives to hand it over to.
