After buses, shut trains too: minister

200 buses were impounded across Sindh over violation of coronavirus SOPs, for defying the travel ban

KARACHI:

In a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus, Sindh Transport Minister Owais Qadir Shah urged the federal government on Tuesday to suspend train services. Intra-city bus services have already been suspended.

At least 200 buses were impounded across Sindh over violation of coronavirus SOPs and for defying the travel ban, but movement of people continues from trains, Shah said.

"Train services should be stopped for at least a week to stop the spread of the coronavirus infection cases," he said.

There is a huge rush of passengers and people accompanying them at railway stations and also in the train compartments, said Shah alleged, adding that the authorities fail to implement SOPs where there are huge crowds.
