Karachi police chief replaced
Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon has been replaced and Imran Yaqoob Minhas, a Grade 21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) has been posted as the top cop of the country's largest metropolitan city.
According to a notification issued on Monday, Additional Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, a Grade 21 officer of the PSP has been posted as AIG Special Branch, the intelligence wing of the police.
Memon had assumed charge of Karachi police chief on July 15, 2019. He remained on the seat for around 22 months during which he implemented important decisions like laying down the guidelines for the appointments of station house officers (SHOs), station investigation officers (SIOs), and station officers (SOs) at police stations of the city. He faced the challenge of controlling rampant street crime and robberies during his tenure.
Meanwhile, Sindh Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar notified the transfer of other senior police officers on Sunday.
As per the notification, Mukhtar Ahmed Khaskheli, an officer of Sindh Police (BS-18), Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Motor Transport Sindh, Karachi, has been transferred and posted with immediate effect and until further orders as the Superintendent of Police, District Umerkot.
Khaskheli will replace Shah Jahan, an officer of Police Service of Pakistan (BS-18) who has been transferred and posted with immediate effect and until further orders as Senior Superintendent of Police, District Korangi, East Zone, Karachi Range.
The current SSP Korangi Faisal Abdullah Chachar, an officer of Police Service of Pakistan (BS-19), has been transferred and directed to report to CPO Sindh. Karachi, the notification read.
