Billed as Pakistan’s ‘first’ advanced communications satellite PAKSAT-1R, as a part of Pakistan’s Space Programme 2040, was launched on Thursday at 9:17 pm on board China’s Satellite Launch Vehicle from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in Sichuan province.
The geostationary satellite would orbit at 23,000 miles above the surface of the earth and is expected to enhance the broadcast and broadband capabilities of the country. However, some scientists say that what Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has achieved today could have been done 30 years ago. They question whether our so-called space programme is on the right track.
Expected clients
PAKSAT-1R has a design life of 15 years and will provide TV broadcasting, Internet and data communication services across South and Central Asia, Eastern Europe, East Africa and the Far East. The satellite will now enable the extending of communication services to all areas of Pakistan.
Apart from Pakistan Army, there are more than 45 clients of PAKSAT-1R, including leading telecom companies such as Mobilink, and broadcasters such as Geo and ARY.
Technical details
The PAKSAT-1R weighs 5,115kg and is based on the DongFangHong-4 platform with 18 Ku-band and 12 C-band transponders onboard. The China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) had been nominated as PAKSAT-1R’s chief contractor after President Asif Ali Zardari and Chinese President Hu Jintao signed an agreement in October 2008. The company was made responsible for the design, manufacturing, final assembly, testing and launch of the satellite.
Cost
Suparco has kept mum about the cost of the multi-million dollar project. Sources within PAKSAT say that at the moment the entire cost has been borne by China which has to be paid back.
According to a press release, Defence Secretary Lt Gen Syed Athar Ali (R), Secretary Foreign Affairs Salman Bashir, Director General, Strategic Plans Division Lt Gen Khalid Ahmed Kidwai (R) and Ambassador of Pakistan to China Muhammad Masood Khan were present on the occasion. Suparco chairman Major General Ahmed Bilal was also reportedly present.

@shazib: Jealous of Pakistan that too in the field of space science..LOL.. Read this:ISRO
@ashok sai: jealous ppl
@Moiz:
Correction! The bashing is for Pakistan not having anything to do with making this communication satellite, other than maybe giving money. Pakistanis bashed India in these blogs, when Indian GSLV lanch failed lately. So now it is chance for Indians to get back.
The very fact that the expense towards the satellite is not disclosed, makes it certain that Pakistan would have gotten a very expensive deal. Pakistan being a small country, could have as well rented transponders on any Chinese satellite. That would have worked out much cheaper. Even a rich country like Switzerland does not have its own communication satellite.
@Vinayakan Kuruvath: funny. i see a lot of indians bashing Pakistan for having its own sat now. hmm maybe it only works when it's the other way round.
@Arvind Mehraa: Dear Mehraa.. I must acknowledge that Indian space programm has much more advanced than ours.... But there is something special about our launch...It is therefore that ppl like have taken serious notice of it and have bended their fingers and mind to tell us how genuine their accomplishments are!!!! Dont feel jealous about it and dont be afraid of it..coz it made by Pak scientists without any external help which has and will always be available to your so called scientists..Your own media is full of scams about your sat program.I am sure you are aware of that.... For pakistanis, comments from indian citizens are yet another proof that how right our fore fathers were about their narrowness.... This news comes at right time though...Independance Day or Indo Pak Split Day.... Have nice reading mr mehraa
Comments here are hilarious. The same Indo Vs Pak. They should be moderated.
Anyway thanks to China for their generous contribution and helping our space programme.
Pak has handed over its data seceracy to China.What a mistake.Now every pak phone n com would be tapped in China.Chineses are already grinning.
@Khurram Mansoor who says "By the way US launches its satellites from Kazakistan does that mean its a Kazak satellite rather then US."
Really, I didn't know that Nasa develops satellite in co-operation with Khazakhsthan and uses Kazakh rockets to launch them.
Do you see the analogy?
Hi Everyone, I don't understand why we all people keep on fighting on these things. You guys made your satellites before us..Happy? Now do your homework, don't need to peep in here. Do I need to remind you that you all INDIAN people are better at copying things, if you are asked to do something of your own mind, what can you do, you are not too good at it. We know we don't have much resources, blah blah blah....then what? Just wait, when we have enough resources, we will see who is best, you are talking like that because you know you have a gun and its pointed to someone who is bare handed, once its even, you yourself will find a place to hide.
I don't intent to hurt you, I just want to pass you a message, why we keep fighting, you have your own food and we have our own, then WHY these killings and all..WHY! What we are going to take with us when we die?
Most of the people around world die of hunger, lack the basics facilities for life, why not join hands for that and help them cope with that, rather than shedding blood over things.
I highly praise your skills, you people are no less than others, so we are, but what if a person studies and doesn't makes use of it, I think the person is useless, making something for oneself is good but doing something for others is better than good.
If you can't help others around the world, just try to help your own people.
THINK ABOUT IT EVERYONE.
I need to know the policy of our friends in Express Tribune.
Would not it be better if it had been presented as
"PAKSAT-1R launched from China"
rather then
China launches Pakistan's first Communication Satellite.
Dear Express Tribune
Mend your ways.
Vow
I never knew Indians would be jealous to this extent.
and I need some Indian to tell me this is not the whole representation of educated India. There must be some same people out there.
And congratulate to Pak - Chinesse Consortium for the launch.
By the way US launches its satellites from Kazakistan does that mean its a Kazak satellite rather then US.
salam pakistan
@Fareed
and can you name one country where terror organisations like taliban were funded and backed by US (and UK and rest of EU as they all were very happy to beat russia in cold war)?
@Alami Musafir
While your first point can still be debunked, let me try another direction...I'm not unhappy that Pakistan progresses. All that bothers Indians about Pakistan is the terrorism.
However, if you think, you can make giant strides in science and technology, that can only have good side effects on India. Because, development in Pakistan means, more secular, progressive education (less Madressahs). It also means, more importance to higher education (less money for military). It also means, people will have jobs to do (and less tendency of becoming a suicide bomber). It also means, moving away from the Mullah culture. It also means, army losing its stranglehold on civilians.
If these things do happen, then it can only auger well for India. So, Go pakistan!
@True Pakistani: You poor sods, now China does not require spys in Pakistan. They can monitor all militry and civilian communications and you will pay a hefty sum for the PAKSTAT 1R while they sit back and download classified information at your expense.
@Kyle Sandilands: There are no croks in the Gangis as you have in australia to do the cleanup
YOU all congested stomachs. We are totally resembling to dogs. weapons never bring peace. and technologies never bring the rest of mind. This wasted money could feed hunger bodies. I am not against development, and i could not say development to this destruction. Look at Britain what they got with their technologies, torched properties, law and order situation, insult of humanity, clashes. Look at America, they can't stop rape in their country, hatred about religions, extremism, hunger of money, and even Russia could not be a sufficient example for us. why we are like this. Love humanity first. I Love my home and i Love my neighborhood. this world is for love not for war. Otherwise burn the books of humanity & Love.
Obviously, it is not jealousy..it is hate ...............pure and simple. Let this be a lesson to us all. Think about it, they still have "Dalits" in shining India........
@Rikky
I said nuclear WEAPONS not reactors. Have you any idea of how complicated and EXPENSIVE a high powered nuclear reactor is to design and build ? Even our Chinese allies, who are so far ahead of us technologically, import their major power reactors. Both India and Pakistan are full of seismically active sites, which makes the design problem worse.
Take a look at Fukushima. The Japanese, the world renown tech wizards, whose nuclear infrastructure was the pride of Asia, if not the world, have got their comeuppance in a big way. Even India isn't foolish enough to scale up its small experimental breeder reactor and mass produce it. Instead it relies on imported reactors. The plutonium produced in breeders is the main cause of the environmental devastation in Fukushima (where it came from the MOX fuel used in their reactors). Pakistan shows sense and responsibility instead of foolish bravado by admitting that advanced power reactor technology is beyond us, at present.
Next, berating us for spending money on weapons instead of on development is blind to the fact that we do so to safeguard ourselves from...guess who ?
Not that you are any better...you too spend massive amounts on weapons, which are never used. What a colossal waste! And your poor and needy greatly outnumber ours.
I say to you, let Kashmir decide its fate for itself, then let us both concentrate on giving our respective populations a better life than the miserable ones they currently enjoy. And no excuses thereafter, like India needs weapons to defend against China. Patch up with them as well. Make this truely the Asian Century.
@narayana murthy
You made several 2 main claims: 1) "You need one nuke to make a million nukes." - Untrue. Different missiles (or air drop bombs), for different purposes, need different warheads ie different nuke designs. Eg W76, W78, W80, W87 & W88 series of US Thermonuclear warheads. Trying to maximise effectiveness, reliability, durability and economy from raw materials is a challenging job for the weapon designers. Not trivial at all. Look what happened to the Indian Thermonuke test in 1998.
2) "making one satellite or sending one satellite does not mean, you can send different types of satellites or rockets". This is true. But consider the giant leap forward Pakistan has made in this satellite compared to its previous one. Indians sneer that this is a Chinese satellite with Pakistani contribution. But so were the early US & Soviet spacecraft, which heavily relied on Nazi spacecraft technology (von Braun, Peenemunde etc). Its pointless reinventing the wheel. Its much more efficient to 'stand on the shoulders of giants', to learn what they know and advance from that level. After all the ultimate origin of spacecraft were the Chinese, who invented gunpowder, and all else followed from that. There's no shame in admitting ignorance and making the effort to learn.
@my fellow Indians
guys, learn to appreciate goods things. Not everything in Pakistan is bad and not everything in India is good. Bad mouthing will only show us in poor light.
Btw, congratulations Pakistan!
Jealousy is no more than feeling alone against smiling enemies.
Well done Pakistan , and Gudluck
I.S.R.O needs to speed up India's Space Shuttle program.
@Hafeez Sheikh:
Every nation capable of launching sateliltes have had lots of failures. India is no exception.
Because you have never tried to stand up, you should not make fun of people who try.
but the question is, WILL IT BLEND ? :o
@rikky: mr.rikky it is jointly made by Pak China got it.
An irony indeed that both countries ,once built with aspiring slogans of making difference to very lives of their people, are marred with the prejudice dogma these days..I appeal for NO to this prejudice..Any achievement on both sides that bring improvement in any shape for people should be cherished on both sides..We,the people,shall say NO to the political hawks and so called intellectuals who foster hatred and differences to meet their own designs..We,the people, can live in harmony with focus on eradication of corruption and states acting as servant to us rather being master of our fate.. Lets just say NO to those who cant "live and let live in harmony".. Lets live to recognise our true potential and as responsible nations for a better future..For a start just start cherishing anything that brings good to the masses on both sides of the border..
@SaadBP:
You are fooling yourself with words. Which of your satellites did you launch from a Pakistani launch vehicle? NONE. Did you manufacture your satellites with Pakistani components? You did have help right.
.
Launches fail all over the world, satellites rarely fail completely.
.
India is self-dependent in building and launching remote sensing satellites. Indian launch vehicle PSLV has had a string of 18 consecutive successful launches. There will not be 5 launch vehicles in the world which can match this capacity. All recent Indian satellites including communication satellites, are made in India.
@Menon: where is problem dear. It says Pakistan has launched its advanced communications satellite PAKSAT-1R. So what if it is built by China, USA or India. Do other country not buy and use technology developed by other advance countries. Just take example of India, how many ships and fighter jets are Indian made in their forces. Pls try to get rid of this typical Indian mind set.

LOLZ great comment.. he pooped a satellite out... except it goes down under and when it goes up falls in their face... shoot.. Satellites for so many years...
Well done Pakistan... And Long Live Pak China Friendship...
@R S JOHAR:
You said Pakistan should get help from India's space programme. India can't even launch its own satellite. Last time it tried it blew up a few minutes after take-off. Here's the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xleDMLt5Ggk&feature=related
Dear all,
There are few clarifications for you. First of all, those who say that this satellite is design, build, launched by China then where is the contribution of Pakistan make it clear that I have been working for this satellite in china for more than 2 years. Pakistan engineers worked with their Chinese counterparts very closely.
More importantly, there are several components in Paksat-1R that were completely manufactured by SUPARCO.
And this satellite will be fully under operational control of SUPARCO for its entire life of 15 years.
@hamzaa: since we are already an established nuclear and missle power. The technology used in launch of a settillite is much similar to that of a missile. It hardly matters that where from we do itemphasized text
Very well said Mr Hamzaa, Now you understand that pakistans missile programme is not at all indigenious, they are directly purchased from DPRK, china, USA etc. If pakistan was expert in building missiles, then why not able to launch sattellite from pakistani soil as you said missile technology is as same to launch the sattellite. So there is nothing indigenious all readymade purchased an ready to fire.
@ All Indians Commenter Please have a Glass of Cold Water, Lower your jealousness and appreciate whatever and however we get this acheivement. It will be success for whole Sub-Continent. It is not anti Indian policy...
We are wise and respect all nations dignity, If we visit your Indians news Sites anyone will be ashamed after reading the comments of your peoples there, no one commented without BAD WORDS and many unrespectful religious sentences have been used. Even with tapori language.
You guys have learned now that we are more wise and respected and educated as compared to your commenters there. We never use such kind of Words here however we argue with your views only. Its a matter of respect and wise brains like us.
It is understandable now why most of you visit here. Because of our respect we are giving to you peoples even you are throwing your angers to us.
Be Cool and Peace.
@indians if you have power, welcome and made a free balchoistan. we are part of pakistan and stop "blackmailing" us,, you do not have right.. you cannot feed your own states and if you think you can break us then you cannot. Balchoistan will remain part of Pakistan forever.. Nara-e-Takbeer, Nara-e-Rasalat, Nara-e-Haidari, Ajo.... INDIA
Well I have to admit here ,we are way behind to our Indian counter in the field of space technology, This thing should have been done way before last day, but still its a start and you can see SUPARCO after 10 years n im sure things would be much more improved.... There was no space exploration strategy before and again i will say this is just a start.... One more thing Pakistani Scientist have contributed alot in this satellite, there is a complete subsystem designed and manufactured indigineously..... For my Indian elder brothers: do you know the engine used in your launch vehicles till now? its Russian and not only engine your whole technology was being transferred from different parts of the world.... but its right knowledge should be shared .... m not criticising anyone here but i want to say is, Be positive ...:)
@Alami Musafir: "You are both right…Pakistan is way behind India. But so were we when it came to nuclear weapons, say during 1974-1980, and now look at the relative positions. Pakistan should never waste resources pursuing grandiose dreams of being a space superpower until it has first solved our people’s basic needs of cheap and abundant food, energy, clean water, health care etc. Thats where brainpower and effort should be directed. May I respectfully suggest that India should do the same." Pakistan is still behind India in nuclear technology, it is amazing to see that your country exploded nuke almost the same time India did but even today you don't have single nuclear reactor made by Pakistan where as India has many home made reactor.Not only that India is one of the country working on fast breed nuclear reactor and we already have one working fast breed nuclear reactor. Common Mr. Alami Musafir whole world know from where you got your nuke bomb and where your country try to sell them. And about your suparb comment "Pakistan should never waste resources pursuing grandiose dreams of being a space superpower until it has first solved our people’s basic needs of cheap and abundant food, energy, clean water, health care etc. " What can I say??LOL you must be Joking, your country 70-80% budget goes to you army and paying loan. I don't know how your manage rest of your budget on what you said ya 1)Basic needs of cheap and abundant food, 2)Energy, 3)Clean Water and 4)Health care. Now your country not only has highest food inflation but also has highest overall inflation(19%+) in whole world,on you second point Pakistan is the only country in world whose city suffer from almost 18 hour of power cut,on health care common man half of you country come to India for good and cheap health care. At-least don't tell lie,anyway congratulation on successful sat launch..
@shafiq chughtai:
Actually yes.
@Kyle Sandilands:
Coming from a backward country called down under, it is precious. Can you name one country that takes Australia serious? None. Middleeast exports oil and Australia exports minerals to China, no difference.
@Talha:
We are and PC is working to get rid of them so, why don't start eradicating terrorism?
@Maryam:
Which way that dude? For taking gift from China? Designed built and launched by China, what did Pakistan do? Watch the launch on TV?
Alhahdolillah we have achieved another milestone. Very rightly said that we could have launched our settellite much earlier, since we are already an established nuclear and missle power. The technology used in launch of a settillite is much similar to that of a missile. It hardly matters that where from we do it , we have done it abd entire world has witnessed that. Some people may not be able to digest it, because of their inherint problem. Let us move forward and achieve another milestone. CURB THE CORRUPTION, BRING TRUE DEMOCOCRACY AND RISE BEYOND YOUR'S PETTY GAINS.
Borrowed things never shine
@Alami Musafir who says "You are both right…Pakistan is way behind India. But so were we when it came to nuclear weapons, say during 1974-1980, and now look at the relative positions."
I don't care who's ahead of whom, as long as we are :))
Coming to the point, piling up nuclear weapons is not an indication of development or advancement. You need one nuke to make a million nukes.
But making one satellite or sending one satellite does not mean, you can send different types of satellites or rockets. From sending a satellite to sending a rocket to the moon need advancement. But one nuke to a million nuke is still the same procedure.
Besides, this satellite is pretty much Chinese. What is Pakistan's contribution?
@ the author. Be a proper journalist and report the facts please. leave your opinions and of some jealous retards out of this. referring to the
"However, some scientists say that what Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has achieved today could have been done 30 years ago. They question whether our so-called space programme is on the right track."
Be a man and feel pride in achieving such a feat, especially in the conditions the country is in right now.
Pakistan is the no.1 nation of the world. comments from the indian people shows their jealousy with pakitsan but we dont care. if they are blaming us that this sattelite is toatally made by chine then before this they should noticed their space program totally begged from Russia.
@Arvind Mehraa: and you beggers of Russia?
@ashok sai: be +ve as pakistan is not a terrorist nation. first of all have a look in your countrt that what is going out there. no need to take tention about pakistan
@ Writer Please respect and honor the efforts(minimum by your thoughts) made by suparco engineers in achieving this milestone. Also name the scientists which think that suparco should have achieved this three decades ago.Don't just write anything that comes to your mind and please provide authentic sources.Our so called space programe needs a huge amount of money even more than our missile and nuclear programe needs.It all depends on our head of the states whether they are interested in developing the space programme after all money comes from the state. Organizations and universities around the globe which are involved in extensive research projects generates minimum of their revenure.They need support from the governments.I must appreciate Musharaf's era in which he released huge amount to suparco by which we have achieved this milestone.It could have been done much earlier.
Why judging the space program through one article? As if the writer is the Director for space program? eh? Usual Indian and Pakistani attitude.....huh! Get a Life people and stop fighting over these articles based on mere " Sunni Sunai Bataain"
@ rikky & Arvind
You are both right...Pakistan is way behind India. But so were we when it came to nuclear weapons, say during 1974-1980, and now look at the relative positions. Pakistan should never waste resources pursuing grandiose dreams of being a space superpower until it has first solved our people's basic needs of cheap and abundant food, energy, clean water, health care etc. Thats where brainpower and effort should be directed. Does anybody bother to spend some time reading?? Pakistan launched its first rocket in 1961 named Rehbar-I Rehbar-II was launched the next year SUPARCO, on Saudi Arabia's request, built them the Badr Satellite Constellation Pakistan owns 3-4 satellites in space, Badr-I, Badr-B and a military satellite as for our Indian friends, you had a fat lot of help from all over the world, Pakistani scientists had to go ahead on their own. Indian Space Program got help from US and Russia both and the Indian Military Space Program was in co-operation with Isreal. We all remember the long list of failed indian launches over the years. Only field where Pakistan is no match is zara zara nach k dikha.......
Pakistan could have taken Indian space agency ISRO help which would have been much cheaper and reliable than the Chinese.
@Talha
You've been clearly brainwashed by the likes of Zaid Hamid. Except in Kashmir Valley there are no separatist movements in India currently.
Maoists/Naxalites are fighting for Communism/Marxism, not separate country. They are more patriotic than Indians commenting here.
Khalistan movement is long dead now.
All north eastern separatist movements (in Assam, Manipur etc) have recently dropped the demand for separate country. They just need economic developments.
Allhamdulillah, Good news after so many days.. Congrats Pakistan. I must refer all of you to visit the following link once.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceandUpperAtmosphereResearch_Commission
@ neighbors: its really a good news for Pakistan and we can understand your feelings. As we are following a policy of minimum deterrence, you people must not worried about it. It's may be better for you to campaign against poverty or for human rights in India. Your such an act will be more patriotic and useful. Apologies but believe me you will feel better over there :).
Will it serve for the mutual interest of a common man in Pakistan?
Congrats to Pakistanis who love this country@hania:
congrates all pakistani
I suppose Kudo's are warranted -- congratulations China!
@shafiq chughtai: Not ages but no one has been doing it for ages. First satellite was launched in fifties and we launched our first (Although on a Russian rocket) in seventies. So we have been making satellites for at least two third of space age; it can be considered ages. So who is dumb now.
Bravo, congrats Pakistan - Long live Pak-China Friendship
@Dan: @Talha:
Suspicion always haunts the guilty mind. - William Shakespeare
@the Skunk: great Sir, but still little hope from Indian side (exception are ofcourse there). I believe in healthy food to have some healthy thoughts.
@ashok sai: I think you should develop habit of taking sleeping pills, otherwise everyday we'll have to go through this type of trash.
Fantastic! China has built and launched a 5 tonne communication satellite. Whereas, India is still struggling to launch 2 tonne communication satellites. India has lot of catching up to do.
Hope the concerned authorities use them properly for commonman
@Indians out here: Guys please stop being jealous Pak-China friendship!! So what if it is made in China and funded by China, A lot of Pakistani enigneers and scientists have taken part in it and Pakistan will pay back the cost to China.
@Kyle Sandilands: Agreed! Countries bordering India are always having a headache because their foodstuffs are being smuggled to the teeming and starving Indians.
Please do send me your comments regarding the River Ganga, which is filled with garbage, defecation and dead bodies.
Regarding our satellite; lets hope the eye-in-the-sky can telecast a picture of what our abominable politicians are upto.
Skepticism with a heavy tinge of disparagement has seeped into our national psyche. Consequently, even a small genuine national achievement like launching of satellite becomes a butt of ridicule. So what even if it is done with the help of China, it is still a positive step in the right direction. More over technology and business process sharing is a norm not only in space industry but also in most of the consumer goods manufacturing, ranging from apparel to sophisticated electronic items Have we forgotten that most of the popular/ fashionable brands sold in US and European stores are made in China.. Let’s take pride in our achievements and stop ridiculing self. Unnecessary criticism reflects low selfesteem.
welll, this news is in 'world news category'
@shafiq chughtai:
how old are you? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellite#Launch-capable_countries
@rikky
I read the whole news article and did not find a single reference to india in all these matters. why you are dragging india on this !?
I am happy on all the negative comments from my brothers / sisters who definitely seems to be from across the border. Due to Ramazan most of Pakistanis have not yet come to know about last night achievement. The anxious, quick and negative comments speaks of frustration by Indian friends that Pakistanis have also challenged them in the space. May I know didn't you guys started your space programs in the same manner with the help of USSR. Whats wrong that we have done it with our time trusted friend China. My Dear all, we Pakistanis are proud on this achievement by SUPARCO and the Chinese counterparts. Explained last night in an interview, by our leadership, that we are not in competition with India and we have done it as per our own National objectives, so don't worry. However, there in one universal fact that once you buy a car of new model it is definitely going to be better in many aspects than the neighbors'car with older models. Just Chill----------------
@shafiq chughtai:
well not for ages, but for quite some time now. First one was way back in 1975.
"PAKSAT-1R: China launches Pakistan’s ‘first’ communications satellite "
@Kyle Sandilands:
free balochistan
@ Fareed Well mate, your RAW is the biggest terror outfit functioning in India with their constant interference in Baluchistan so you might want to look in your backyard before asking such questions.
Secondly When i say Dismal nuclear security i am not referring to a Chernobyl or Japan style incident due to any natural disaster, i am referring to the reports of actual weak security measures and negligence on part of Indian security apparatus.
This is sad...You are an ungrateful nation Pakistan...you should have remembered Prof. Dr Abdus Salam on the launch of PAKSAT-1R!
SUPARCO was established under the advice of Abdus Salam! But NO WHY would Pakistan remember him, SINCE he was NOT a Muslim according to your constitution and missions like these are completed by "Shaheeens and Mard-re-Momins" ! Pakistan you are an epic fail!
http://www.suparco.gov.pk/pages/history.asp
@Singh: as if u had been making satellites for ages dumb :)
Talah is dam right look in to yourself and u will find the answer
@rikky: (Pak)-SAT (Pak) instad of (IN)-SAT is the only thing that pakistan achived so far in this contaxt, any way we In india way back in 1986 we achieved our own indiginious INSAT series, well, best of luck for your future lunches ..
@Talha we are worried,but for ourselves ,not for others .Have u heard of any terrorist organisation based on India ,has hurt any other country ?If countries like Japan,Russia which are tech super powers have suffered from nuclear disaster,then we might face ,but we haven't faced yet.
If it is made in China,made by China and Launch from China, then what the Pakistani Engineers are doing in SUPARCO? Why not SUPARCO turned into a contracting company rather a so-called advanced aerospace engineering company.
As usual, India have totally lost it! Can they name 1 country aside form Russia that is happy with them as a neighbour? Pls name one.
My name is Kyle Sandilands of Australia & one of the comments I dad made was regarding river Ganga . You are well aware of what I had stated prior to that.
Alhamdulilah the day will come soon and tthe world will be in rest and peace just becouse of pakistan . Congrates to all Pakistan .
It is a Pakistan satellite in name only. What is the technical contribution of Pakistani scientists in this endeavour? It is built by the Chinese, and launched by the Chinese. The only thing they outsourced to Pakistan was its assembly. Big deal! You know, someone said that SUPARCO should have achieved this 30 years back. Well, I am about to give up ISRO's (Indian Space Research Organisation), BIGGEST SECRET to SUPARCO. FOR FREE! THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE! READY? OKAY THEN (DRUMROLL!), LISTEN WELL > Indian scientists carried the first rocket boosters on bicycles to Thumba, Kerala, to the launch site. So, when they see the world record for maximum satellite deployments in a single launch on a completely indigenous vehicle, they feel proud not because it is INDIA's achievement alone. They feel proud, because they know they have this success today, because they were willing to sweat it out when they didn't have INR 2 for a cup of coffee and samosas / vadas. It takes sweat and determination. Brains your scientists do have ... but not the humility to see the effort through. Best of luck ... you can start with the next generation.
@ Ashok Sai
Why don't you worry about the dozens of separatist movements all over your country and the dismal security of your nuclear assets.
Hope this satellite communications will not be used by terrorists to plot terrorist activity across the globe.
The company was made responsible for the design, manufacturing, final assembly, testing and launch of the satellite.
Cost
Suparco has kept mum about the cost of the multi-million dollar project. Sources within PAKSAT say that at the moment the entire cost has been borne by China which has to be paid back. WHERE IS Pakistan’s ‘first’ advanced communications satellite PAKSAT-1R, It is made & owned by China. LOL
Its Clear from this part that it is made in China,made by China and Launch from China so what is pakistan achieved in this as written below , except they have made in China sat to replace older one.
some scientists say that what Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has achieved today could have been done 30 years ago.
Suparco has kept mum about the cost of the multi-million dollar project. Sources within PAKSAT say that at the moment the entire cost has been borne by China which has to be paid back.
Again it look Pakistan is so desperate to race with India even in the field where there is no match.Every Sat cost Multi-million dollar,I wonder pakistan has that much or not since at the time of flood they went to every country for aid and also accuse big country for not giving aid to pakistan and ya they have rejected India 25 Million help and advertised China's 10 million help and there is no mention of USA that time who had given pakistan almost 200 Million dollar.LOL Pakistan.
MashAllah!....way to go Pakistan!
"Suparco has kept mum about the cost of the multi-million dollar project. Sources within PAKSAT say that at the moment the entire cost has been borne by China which has to be paid back." This is big question mark??
