Environment: Bestway wins excellence award

KARACHI: Bestway Cement Limited has won the 8th Annual Environment Excellence Award 2011 for being a socially responsible and environment-friendly organisation, says a press release. The award is organised annually by the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) in collaboration with the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and with the support of the Ministry of Environment. The award is aimed at recognising organisations that promote environmental stewardship, build sustainable communities and adopt internal environmental health and safety practices. According to the release, Bestway has always met its social responsibilities, particularly towards the local community. “Bestway plants are environment-friendly and the company pursues protection of environment by ensuring that its plants continue to comply with established environmental standards,” it said.
