LAHORE:

The balloting process for the allotment of 2,000 residential apartments under the LDA City Naya Pakistan Housing Apartments has been completed.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar presided over the balloting ceremony here at his office on Tuesday. With a press of a computer button, the chief minister initiated the balloting process to draw 2,000 LDA City Naya Pakistan Housing Apartments among 13,277 applicants.

Provincial ministers Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Murad Raas, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, MPA Sadia Sohail, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Vice Chairman SM Imran, Punjab chief secretary, LDA DG, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), Punjab Information Secretary and others witnessed the balloting process.

The chief minister said successful applicants will approach Punjab Bank or its nominated banks, for letters of comfort. The value of an apartment is around Rs2.7 million and the successful candidates can also submit a separate application for the subsidy to Naya Pakistan Housing & Development Authority (NAPHDA).

The successful candidates will submit a 10% down payment, he said. The rest of the payment will be paid in an easy monthly instalment after occupying the apartment.

The chief minister expressed satisfaction that the dream of occupying their own house is being materialised as 2,000 apartments will be allotted to the LDA, federal and provincial government employees in the first phase.

The submission of more than 13,000 applications is a huge public trust over this project which has been designed on a no-profit, no-loss basis, he added.

The apartments will be handed over to allottees in a short period and the building standard will be better than any other private housing scheme. As much as 60% area has been reserved for the green belt, parks, footpaths and roads.

There will be a separate parking facility for every apartment block along with a commercial area, he said.
