Meghan forgives Royals post Prince Philip’s death

Duchess’ close friends revealed to local media outlets

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has forgiven the Royal family in light of Prince Philip’s demise and has decided to “move on”. Speaking on behalf of Meghan, her close friends revealed that the Suits actor wishes for the family to “come together and put their differences aside.” They also shared that Meghan opted out of Prince Philip’s funeral and decided to stay back in California because she did not want to be “the centre of attention,” reported Express UK.

Their comments come after Meghan’s highly-publicised interview with Oprah Winfrey, where she accused the British Royal family of racism and shared she was denied help by the Buckingham Palace aides upon having suicidal thoughts. Meghan and Harry explosive conversation on Super Soul Sunday sent shockwaves around the world. A day after, the Palace issued a response by the Queen, stating that the allegations would be taken seriously even though some accounts may vary.

While Prince Harry undergoes quarantine in Windsor after flying in from United States for his grandfather’s funeral rites, Meghan’s friends explained why the Queen understands the choice made by the duchess to remain at home. Earlier, an official spokesperson for Meghan clarified that she had not been given medical clearance to fly while being heavily pregnant. She is due to give birth to her second child in the summer. "Meghan said it's during these times when family should come together, put their differences aside and unite as one," a friend told the Daily Mail, requesting anonymity.

“Meghan said this is what Prince Philip would want and that she's willing to forgive and move forward. She also said that the Queen understands her absence as Her Majesty would want her to stay safe and healthy for the baby." Another unnamed friend revealed Meghan “adored Prince Philip and that they had a special bond while living in the Palace.” Harry also penned a moving tribute to his late grandfather, calling him a “man of service, honour and great humour.”

A note on the Archewell website read, "He was authentically himself, with a seriously sharp wit, and could hold the attention of any room due to his charm—and also because you never knew what he might say next.” The Duke of Sussex added, “He will be remembered as the longest reigning consort to the Monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince and a Duke. But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right 'til the end.”

He continued, "He has been a rock for Her Majesty The Queen with unparalleled devotion, by her side for 73 years of marriage, and while I could go on. So, on that note, Grandpa, thank you for your service, your dedication to Granny, and for always being yourself. You will be sorely missed, but always remembered—by the nation and the world.” Harry concluded, “Meghan, Archie, and I (as well as your future great-granddaughter) will always hold a special place for you in our hearts.”
