Covid-19 SOP compliance remains weak, says Asad Umar

Federal Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar on Monday said Covid-19 SOP compliance remains weak in the country and the administration has been asked to "ramp up" enforcement to avoid a crisis like situation.

The minister added that the pressure on hospitals is increasing across the country. The minister's tweet came after he presided over a National Command Operation Centre (NCOC) meeting earlier today.

Pakistan on Monday reported at least 4,584 new Covid-19 cases for the previous 24-hr period. During the same time period, at least 58 people succumbed to the virus, with most deaths occurring in Khyber-Pakhtunkwa (K-P) followed by Punjab.

According to the statistics released by the NCOC, the total number of cases in Pakistan stands at 75,266. Punjab has the most active cases with 17,755, followed by Sindh with 9,404 cases, 8,715 in K-P, 5,982 in ICT, 1,019 in Balochistan, 1,164 in AJK and 475 active cases in Gilgit-Baltistan.

At least 634,835 people have recovered from the pandemic in Pakistan.
