PM Imran praises overseas Pakistanis for 'record remittances'
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday praised overseas Pakistanis for sending in record remittances and said their love and commitment to Pakistan is "unparalleled".
"The love & commitment of Overseas Pakistanis to Pakistan is unparalleled. You sent over $2bn for 10 straight mths despite Covid, breaking all records," the premier said in a Twitter post on Monday.
"Your remittances rose to $2.7bn in Mar, 43% higher than last yr. So far this fiscal yr, your remittances rose 26%. We thank you," premier added.
In February, PM lauded overseas Pakistanis for a record increase in remittances in 2021 as compared to the previous year.

"Remittances from overseas Pakistanis were $2.27 bn in Jan, up 19% over Jan 2020 - 8th consecutive month of remittances above $2b," the premier had said.
"To date in this fiscal year they are up 24% compared to last year; this is a record for our country and I thank our overseas Pakistanis," PM was quoted as saying.
According to a report, remittances sent home have played a leading role in supporting the rupee to grow stronger during testing times of the pandemic.
Besides, additional inflows from the Pakistani expatriates through Roshan Digital Account (RDA) into different assets like saving certificates, property and stock markets also kept the rupee hovering high.
