‘Talk less, do more’: PML-Q criticises PTI govt over ‘slow vaccine rollout’

PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Sunday criticised his ally, the PTI government, over its response to deal with the coronavirus pandemic as number of infections in the country is rising exponentially.

“Talk less and arrange more doses of vaccine to deal with coronavirus,” said Elahi, who is also speaker of the Punjab Assembly, at a wedding reception of PML-Q Vice-President Chaudhry Saleem Baryar’s son.

MNA Monis Elahi, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Shahbaz Gill and several other political and prominent personalities attended the event.

Elahi said that out of all countries in the region, Pakistan is lagging behind in vaccinating its population against the novel coronavirus.

The number of Covid-19 patients in the country is increasing at alarming rate with every passing day, he said while warning the government that a lot of people will die of Covid pandemic if timely actions are not taken.

The provincial assembly's speaker also asked the federal government to provide relief to the masses during the holy month of Ramazan.

Earlier in the day, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) announced that all kinds of gatherings, indoor as well as outdoor, have been banned with immediate effect aimed at containing the third wave of Covid-19.

This includes all social, cultural, political, sports and other events, the guidelines further stated.
