Court directs IO to provide case copies to Haleem, other accused

KARACHI:

A local directed the investigation officer on Wednesday to provide copies of the case challan, which he submitted to the court at the hearing, to opposition leader in the Sindh Assembly and others accused of blocking the M9 Motorway and vandalism during a demolition drive in Malir.

According to the challan, Haleem and his supporters blocked the motorway, but fled as soon as the police reached the spot.

The challan stated that two accused were on the run.

Jail officials presented Haleem before the court at the hearing.

The court directed the IO to provide Haleem and other accused the copies of the challan and adjourned the hearing until April 3.

'Will prove innocence'

Later, while speaking to the media outside the court, Haleem claimed those who had created terrorism cases against him were themselves guilty of "economic terrorism."

Maintaining that he would his innocence, he alleged the police of slavery.

Directing criticism towards the opposition in the Centre, he said the group punished by the NAB was trying to attack the anti-graft watchdog in order to get an NRO.
