QUETTA:

Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal has inaugurated the ‘All Pakistan Chief Minister Balochistan Gold Hockey Tournament’ in Quetta.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the tournament was organised in a bid to lure the youth of the terror-stricken province towards sports.

Jam Kamal was the chief guest at the inaugural function. Normally any kind of opening ceremonies are conducted after the chief guest cuts a ribbon but the hockey tournament was inaugurated after the provincial chief executive slammed a ball with his hockey stick on the field.

The advisor to the chief minister on sports and youth affairs, other cabinet members and people belonging to the provincial hockey fraternity attended the inaugural function as well.

While speaking to the media on the occasion, CM Kamal said people blame him for only focusing on Gwadar but he has proven them wrong today. “My only focus is not Quetta or Gwadar but the entire country,” he said.

The chief minister added that the incumbent provincial government is holding a big event of this nature after a long gap of 17 years.

“There will be live coverage of the event,” he added. “We are striving to hold such events at the national level every two months.”

CM Kamal urged the public to come and enjoy the hockey tournament with their families.
