Constable suspended for ‘absence without notice’

DSP found SHO, subordinate missing from police station during surprise visit

FAISALABAD:

A woman constable was suspended on March 17 during a visit by an officer to Chak Jhumra police station.

A DSP paid a surprise visit to the police station and found the SHO absent from duty.

A constable of the police station reportedly said that SHO Roy Arshad Ali was at Barnala post but he was not found there as well.

The officer conducting the initial inquiry into the matter recommended departmental action against the SHO and a woman constable who was also found absent. However, the SHO took three days leave instead of appearing before the inquiry officer.

The SHO had allegedly gone to Chiniot with the constable who was on temporary duty. However, SHO Arshad Ali, when contacted, said, “I took the lady constable from the police station with two of guards to arrest a suspect.”

Regarding going on leave, the SHO said he had gone home after taking three days leave from the CPO and after he was ordered to go on the raid."The DSP Nishatabad made a report of my absence and sent it to SP Madina Town due to which I was suspended.”

The DSP wrote the report of the SHO's absence in the police station register and sent its copies to the officers concerned.

The DSP said the report of the SHO's absence had been registered.
