Nine members of Afghan military killed in helicopter crash
At least nine members of the Afghan military were killed in a helicopter crash in central Afghanistan, the country's defence ministry said on Thursday.
"Afghan Ministry of Defence confirms that a Mi-17 helicopter crash landed in Behsud district, Maidan Wardak province," the official news agency quoted the ministry as saying.
On Wednesday, according to the ministry, 10 Taliban were killed and seven others wounded in the Nirkh district of the Maidan Wardak province. It had also stated that three terrorists were apprehended and seven improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were defused by the security forces.
Last month, Taliban accused US forces of transporting Da’ish militants into the war-torn country through their helicopters.
They had also alleged that the forces were helping the militants escape Taliban’s strongholds.
