KARACHI:

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman announced on Monday that the party would be holding a rally in Karachi on March 26.

The rally will be taken out from Quaidabad and head toward the Governor House, said Rehman.

He made the announcement during a press conference, where he expressed disappointment over the "Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Democratic Movement's failure to raise voice for Karachi's issues."

The JI leader claimed the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan compromised on its mandate during the recent Senate elections.

"They sold their mandate to Pakistan Peoples Party for one Senate seat," he said.

Demanding local body elections and an early census, he accused the opposition coalition and ruling party of having similar positions on census results.

Moreover, he spoke about issues related to K-Electric, mass transit projects, and water schemes.

The rally on March 26 is part of the JI's campaign 'Haq do Karachi ko', (Give Karachi its rights).
