Coach driver assaults child after making him ice addict

PESHAWAR:

A class one student was turned into an ice addict and then repeatedly raped by a coach driver in Paharipura, Peshawar.

Lodging an FIR with police Sher Ali Khan, resident of Ghani Colony, stated that his nephew went missing a few days ago who has become addicted to ice at a tender age.

“He is a class one student at a local school and his father is abroad. When he went missing I started searching for him and finally located him in a local bus stand in Kamboh. The child told me that a man Izat Khan took him to a room once where he made him smoke ice and raped him. Now he is doing it regularly,” he stated in the FIR, saying that the man should be booked for turning the child into an addict and then sexually assaulting him.

Police registered an FIR in the case and the child was sent for medical examination.

Talking to The Express Tribune rights activist Imran Takkar said that it was a tragedy that now school students as young as six or seven years old are turning to drugs, which means that it is openly available to them.

“If your class one students are addicted to ice it shows the true face of a society which we proudly call religious. And even worse is the sexual abuse of children in this society,” he said, adding that children belong to the most vulnerable segment of society and they become easy prey to child predators. “As parents the child is your first responsibility. When parents don’t care about children even government can’t do anything about it. We need to understand this point very clearly,” he said, adding that there was awareness neither among the parents nor in society.
