Meeting reviews new LG proposals in Punjab

A high-level meeting held at the Punjab chief minister's house on Monday reviewed the ‘New Local Body System’.

The meeting was chaired by Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan while Provincial Ministers Raja Muhammad Basharat, Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, Hashim Javan Bakht, Sibtain Khan, Mian Khalid Mehmood and Hasnain Bahadur Dareshk presented various proposals for the establishment of new local bodies in Punjab.

The reorganisation of the Local Government (LG) system included the formation of municipal committees, town committees and metropolitan corporations in various cities of the province.

The senior minister said that local bodies would be formed in different cities of the province in proportion to the population so that the problems of the citizens and daily issues could be resolved in the best possible way. He added, “Appropriate changes would be inculcated in tehsils and villages of Punjab. Different proposals were being considered in this regard.”
