Suspect has been involved in carrying out attacks on police mobiles, say officials

KARACHI:

The Counter Terrorism Department claimed to have arrested a member of banned outfit, Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA), in a raid near the graveyard in Qayyumabad Sector C on Saturday night.

According to CTD officials, the apprehended suspect, Vikash Kumar alias Sonu, was involved in facilitating other SRA workers, besides carrying out attacks on police mobiles and Pakistan Rangers’ checkposts, conducting reconnaissance of a Chinese engineer working at National Refinery Limited, organising rallies for SRA missing persons and instigating anti-government sentiments at these rallies.

The CTD staff maintained that the suspect provided shelter to SRA workers on the directives of SRA chief Sajjad Shah. Kumar was booked in a case pertaining to Anti-Terrorism Act and the Explosives Act.

The CTD officials said that five of Kumar’s accomplices have already been arrested and further investigations are underway.
