Petitioner’s reply sought in electrocution death case

The petitioner moved the court to direct KE to pay Rs27 million as compensation for the death

KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court sought on Saturday a counter reply from the petitioner in an electrocution death case, after K-Electric (KE) submitted its reply on a plea seeking compensation for the death of citizens.

In the plea, the petitioner stated that his son, Saad Sheikh, was electrocuted to death in 2020, after he came in contact with naked electricity wires. He moved the court to direct KE to pay Rs27 million as compensation for the death.

The power utility stated in its reply that a KE team was working nearby when the deceased was electrocuted and electricity supply to the entire area had been suspended at the time. It maintained that supply to the area was suspended and hence, KE was not responsible for Sheikh's death.
