LAHORE:

The city police department has directed its employees not to issue a picture in uniform on social media. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mehmood Dogar in a circular also asked the officers and officials not to wear police uniform while attending a private gathering.

He further directed the policemen not to create a social media group nor share any news regarding police into it. He also restricted them from issuing an opinion about police or its functions. Under the new policy, officers lower than an SP rank, have been stopped from giving a version to media on any issue about police or crimes.

He asked the officers and officials to remove their pictures in police uniform and leave the groups. He also asked the SHOs and in-charge investigations to brief their subordinates about the policy.

The CCPO said the new social media policy for policemen has been issued following the orders of the Inspector General of Police.

He continued that the police uniform represented the whole department.
