Progress on family planning reviewed

The health minister says the burgeoning population was hampering the development of the country

Punjab Minister for Population Welfare Col (retd) Hashim Dogar and Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid chaired a meeting to review performance of different committees on Family Planning and way forward at the Population Welfare Department on Thursday.

The population welfare minister said the role of religious scholars is pivotal in creating awareness about family planning among people. He directed the district population welfare officers to actively play a role in convincing couples to adopt measures to plan their families.

Speaking on the occasion the health minister said that the burgeoning population was hampering the development of the country.

She said there was a need to develop target-based strategies to achieve population control objectives.
