RAWALPINDI:

Two suspects were arrested on Monday for their alleged attempts to molest two children in Rawalpindi.

The first suspect, Kamran Shahid, is accused of making a sexual assault on a minor girl in the area of the Rawat police a day ago. The suspect beat the girl as he failed in his attempt to molest the four-year-old girl.

The police said a first information report (FIR) was registered against the suspect on behalf of the girl’s maternal grandfather, Sami, who told the investigators that his nephew, who hailed from Peshawar, was staying at his home with family.

He said his nephew’s four-year-old daughter went to play outside. However, she returned home with a swollen eye and abrasions to her forehead and hips, he added.

The complainant doubted that someone had attempted to molest the girl, said the police, adding that the man quickly lodged a complaint with them.

The police said a hunt was subsequently launched to nab the suspect who was rounded up within a day.

Following the suspect’s arrest, the police said they conducted a medical examination of him which proved that a molestation attempt had been made on the girl who had had wounds on different body parts. The police have started an investigation against the suspect.

Meanwhile, another suspect was apprehended after a man told the police that a sexual attempt was made on his 10-year-old son.

In his complaint to the Taxila police, Ali Abdullah said the suspect, namely Ejaz, had taken away his son to an under-construction house where he attempted to molest him.

Following the complaint, the police said they had caught the suspect and had launched a probe.

A day ago, the Saddar police registered a case against a suspect who allegedly broke into the house of a teenage girl in a bid to kill her after his molestation attempt was foiled earlier in the day.

Police officials said they were called in by Syed Ghulam who told them that her 17-year-old daughter had gone to a market to purchase vegetables when the suspect, Allah Ditta, had stopped her on the way and harassed her. However, the victim started screaming after which two boys standing nearby came for help, upon which the suspect had fled, the complainant said.

Later in the night, the suspect scaled the boundary of the complainant's house and went straight to the girl’s room, said the father.

The suspect tried to strangle her but she resisted and shouted for help after which the family members rushed to the room but the suspect managed to flee, he added.

The police said they had registered a case against the suspect and started an investigation.
