Investigation wing of capital police revamped
The investigation wing of the Islamabad Police has been revamped with the purpose to ensure speedy and quality investigation into the cases, a spokesperson shared on Sunday.
Following the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Qazi Jamilur Rehman, the revamping process of the investigation was initiated and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) was appointed to head the wing.
The official maintained that SP Investigation East and West will report to the SSP (Investigation) while forensic science team would also assist during investigation process in case of any incident.
Two separate squads, Special Investigation Squad and Anti-Proclaimed Offenders’ Squad, were also constituted to ensure speedy investigation of criminal cases and arrest of criminals at large, he shared. The police chief said that such revamping would help to ensure quality investigation into cases and make the entire investigation process at par with international standards.

Rehman further stated that citizens’ complaints will now be addressed timely and imprisonment of the perpetrators of different criminal activities will be ensured through timely submission of challans in courts. The police personnel of this wing will effectively collect evidence for cases and assist in fair and transparent investigation, he added.
The IGP also mentioned that to ensure speedy justice to people is a top priority for him and a zero tolerance policy will be adopted in this regard.
Furthermore, he ordered transfers for the entire staff of Koral Police Sstation after reports of their alleged links with land mafia surfaced. He said that the protection of the lives and properties of the citizens is the police’s responsibility and these officers have failed to do that.
Rehman added that any negligence on part of the police officials in deliverance of their duties and their ill treatment of civilians will not be tolerated.
Sources informed The Express Tribune that many complaints were received against the staff of Koral Police Station, however, further investigation into the matter is expected to reveal more information.
