ISLAMABAD:

The government ministers on Saturday lashed out at the opposition saying the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was a “dead horse” now and that the 11-party opposition alliance was making hue and cry because the “corruption” of their leaders was becoming public.

In a statement, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz maintained that the opposition was only left with “disappointment, failure and defeat”.

He said the PDM was a “dead horse” now adding that those who wanted to overthrow the elected government fell out of favour of the people.

The information minister noted that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders were “confused” and that the Broadsheet issue had exposed the politics of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and would become “Panama II” for them.

"When Imran Khan was building cancer hospital and universities for the poor, Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari were robbing the poor and building palaces in Avonfield and Surrey", Shibli said.

“PML-N leaders cannot mislead and misguide people by telling lies,” he added.

Shibli said Premier Imran Khan was known for his determination and steadfastness and observed that the corrupt mafia which had looted the wealth of the nation must be held accountable.

Meanwhile, Minister for Human Rights Dr Shrieen Mazari said the opposition was making hue and cry because the “corruption” of their leaders was becoming public.

"Opposition will scream and shout because scale of their leaders money laundering and theft of nation's resources is becoming public as is the role of abettors complicit in cover ups, faulty agreements and NROs,” she tweeted.

She said inquiry of the Broadsheet issue will be completed and public will know about the decision on it.

In a series of tweets, the minister noted that the opposition did not want a judge to head the Broadsheet inquiry who might know too much about their “loot and scams” adding that it was the right of the nation to know the facts.

“Pakistan suffered twice due to the corrupt leaders and their allies and now people want to know who looted their money,” she said while referring to the previous PML-N and PPP governments.

"Getting opposition's approval for [Broadsheet] inquiry head is like a thief being asked to pick his own judge," she further said.
