GILGIT:

Pakistan Medical Association Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B PMA) withdrew their call for strike on Tuesday after successful negotiations with Gulbar Khan, regional health minister, sources said.

“The health minister has assured us that our demands will be met very soon, so we have taken back the call for strike,” said Dr Iqbal, one of the 25 doctors who demand regularisation of their services in G-B.

The PMA doctors said that they haven’t been paid their salaries for the past eight months and will go on a complete strike next week if their demands remained unmet. The files containing promotions of doctors have been stopped from reaching their destination, said the doctors in a meeting called by G-B PMA to discuss the scenario of promotions after June.
