Malir uproar: Protest met with baton charge and tear gas

KARACHI:

Residents of Malir staged a protest on the National Highway after members of many families were arrested in a police raid.

Protesters say that the police raided many areas of Malir and arrested the young men. Relatives reached the police station to find the cause of the arrests but the police had no explanation. Family members protested against what they said was “illegal detention”, but their calls were met by baton charge and tear gas which injured many people. An investigation is under way.
