In these uncertain times, many around the globe have turned to movies and music as a solution to isolation boredom. Some consider shopping a therapy but in these times, when staying indoors is the only way out, binge-watching is the best remedy. Here are some films that you can watch soon.
1. ‘Locked Down’
The film stars the Ocean’s 8 actor Anne Hathaway and Mission Impossible’s Chiwetel Ejiofor. It’s a Doug Liman quarantine-shot film based on a couple on the brink of separating named Paxton and Linda. The couple realises life has different plans for the two as they isolate together. Their presence together is challenged by many things that they must overcome as a team. Locked Down is set to release in the first week of March worldwide.
2. ‘Five Feet Apart’
This is a depiction of a novel by Rachael Lippincott directed by Jane the Virgin star Justin Baldoni. Seventeen-year-old Stella passes most of her time in the hospital as a cystic fibrosis patient. Her life is full of medical routines, limitations and self-control, all of which get put to the test when she meets Will, a teen who has the same illness. The film displays two affectionate teens that face challenges related to their terminal illness that leaves no other option but their love to grow in one place; a hospital.
3. ‘Quarantine’
American film-maker John Eric Dowdle made a film back in 2008 based on what we experience today. Although it is based on a newsperson and crew getting stuck in a building that has quarantined from the outspread of unknown viruses that turns humans into zombies. As much as it is different than reality, some aspects connect us to the current condition we all are in.
4. ‘Snowpiercer’
Starring Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs, Snowpiercer is based on survivors of Earth's second Ice Age who live out their days on a luxury train that ploughs through snow and ice. The train's poorest tenants, who live in the neglected carriage, plan to progress their lot by taking over the engine room. The film depicts classism as well as people in isolation within a train designed to fight challenges.
5. ‘The Society’
Students of a Connecticut high school head off for an extended camping trip but a storm forces them to return. Upon their return, the teens realise that all of the town's adults are gone in this modern take on a 1954 literature classic Lord of the Flies by William Golding. The TV show depicts how troubled teens to introverts find alliance to survive in a town that isolates without any means to survive or escape.
