The provincial Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Maulana Abdul Wasay said the federal government deprived people of their livelihood by making fake promises of employment as thousands of Pakistan Steel Mill workers were laid off in the run-up to its privatization.
He expressed this on Sunday in a public gathering of the Pakistan Democratic Movement — an alliance of 11 opposition parties — held in Dera Murad Jamali city of Balochistan for the ouster of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf- led federal government in continuation of the second phase of the protests across the country.
“The government has planned to shut down [another national entity] — Pakistan International Airlines — despite of the promises of reviving the national carrier before assuming power,” said Abdul Wasay, adding the rigged general elections of 2018 had brought selected people in the ruling position.
The JUI leader said Prime Minister Imran Khan admitted in interviews that the ruling PTI government had no knowhow of running the government which, according to him, led to the failure of governance across the country.
Other opposition party leaders, including former provincial president of PPP Central Committee Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, also addressed the rally.
