Thick fog disrupts rail traffic

Foggy weather on Friday continued disrupting Pakistan Railways trains’ schedule badly, leaving a number of passengers waiting for hours at Lahore and other major stations across the country.

The situation is worsening gradually, as arrival and departure of major express trains running between Lahore-Karachi and other sections continue delaying for hours.

According to railways administration, the departure of Karakoram from Lahore was cancelled due to harsh weather. “Other trains running late including Pak Business Express, Shah Hussain Express and Karachi Express,” the administration said in a handout.

Railway officials said the trains were late because they had to be driven at a slow speed for safety. The visibility was low on the tracks blanketed by fog everywhere in Punjab.
