The Grand Health Alliance (GHA) continues its protest against the enforcement of the Medical Teaching Institute (MTI) Act in PIMS. A number of social and political figures joined the protest to express solidarity.
Jamate Islami Women Wing Secretary-General Aisha Syed also reached the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
While addressing the protesters, Syed said that her party fully supported the protest against privatisation of PIMS. She added that Pims was a national institution and its privatisation was not acceptable at any cost.
She asserted that MTI Act would deprive the poor of free treatment and contended that the standard of healthcare facilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) had gone below after imposition of MTI.
Syed said that instead of learning from mistakes, the government was adamant to destroy Pims too.
She vowed that JI would not let the healthcare facility go into the hands of private owners.
