ECP’s political finance wing fails to submit report
The political finance wing of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) failed to submit an investigative report into the financial statements of the political parties and sought more time for the purpose.
The ECP granted the wing another 15 days to carry out the probe.
A four-member bench of the ECP led by commission member Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi heard the case regarding investigation into the financial statements of the political parties on the request of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The PTI had requested the election commission to investigate the financial statements of the political parties.
Ruling party’s secretary general Amir Kayani’s counsel Shah Khawar appeared before the ECP.
The hearing of the case was adjourned until January 20.
During the last hearing, the ECP had declared the report of the political finance wing on the financial statements of the political parties unsatisfactory.
