MARDAN:

Police have successfully solved the murder case of a 10-year-old and arrested a woman identified as Sumera on the charges of murder. While addressing a press conference, District Police Officer (DPO) Mardan Dr Zahid informed media that a child was found dead in a drain in Mardan district’s Katlang area

He had gone missing a day earlier. His family searched for him everywhere but failed to locate him. However, his body was found in the drain next day causing a widespread panic across the area.

The father of the child Mumtaz Ali had lodged an FIR with the local police when the child went missing. It was later converted into a murder case after the child was found strangled to death.

Police began investigation into the case after the death of the child and formed a team of experts under the leadership of SP Investigation Muhammad Ayaz who suggested the idea of geo-fencing and profiling around 85 houses in the vicinity.
