A man killed his sister following an argument over a domestic issue at her residence near Jaranwala road on Thursday and escaped. The deceased was reportedly mother of two children.
Police took the body into custody and handed it over to the family after postmortem examination.
Muhammad Ali, son of Ata Muhammad, a resident of Chak No 228 Bogni, filed a report at the local police station, stating that he had been married to the victim for 20 years.
The couple had a son Asad Ali and daughter Rizwana.
“My wife Rukhsana Bibi was sitting in a room with her children when Qamar Shehzad, her younger brother, entered the room armed with a 30-bore pistol and began arguing with her,” Ali stated, adding, “He then shot her in the stomach and chest, which claimed her life.”
The complainant said Shehzad was helped in escaping on a motorcycle by his brother Zulfiqar with his son Harmain.
“I tried to catch Qamar but his sibling helped him flee from the murder scene,” he said sadly.
Police handed over the body of the deceased to the family after an autopsy and registered a case against the sibling under Sections 302 and 109/34 of Pakistan Penal Code. Police were conducting raids to apprehend the accused.
