APS martyrs remembered on sixth anniversary

The Army Public School (APS) martyrs were honoured on Wednesday by several groups and institutions, which hosted ceremonies, walks and vigils.

On December 16, 2014, terrorists of banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan massacred 144 students and staff members of the school in Peshawar.

A walk was held at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, to mark the sixth anniversary of the tragedy while the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences hosted a vigil in remembrance of the victims.

Similarly, the Pakistan Zindabad Basic Organisation lit candles outside the Karachi Press Club to pay tribute to the victims of the attack and Pakistan's armed forces who rendered sacrifices in the war against terrorism."The sacrifices of Pakistan armed forces are eternal," said PBZO divisional president Dr Muhammad Naeem, speaking to the media.

Tributes also came from political corners. Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said that panicked enemies of Pakistan had attacked out children. "The whole nation is remembering our innocent martyrs, those children are still our heartbeats."

Similarly, Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab stated that the APS tragedy can never be forgotten. "I salute to the parents of the martyred children for the courage and patience they have shown."
