Govt will complete its term: Ashrafi

Says Sheikh Rashid is enough to stop the Islamabad march

The PTI-led government will complete its five-year term and will win the Senate elections, Special Aide to the Prime Minister on Religious Harmony Maulana Tahir Ashrafi emphatically stated on Tuesday.

While speaking to The Express Tribune in the federal capital, Ashrafi maintained that the government faced no threat from the opposition.

“Opposition’s job is to hold rallies while the job of the government is to run the affairs of the country. [PTI-led] government will complete its [five-year] term,” he said.

He condemned PkMAP leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai for using “objectionable” language during the PDM public meetings and noted that the government would decide on time when en masse resignations of the opposition are received.

Commenting on PDM’s announcement of a march to the federal capital, Ashrafi said “Sheikh Rashid is enough to stop the Islamabad march”.

The PM’s aide expressed the hope that inflation would be reduced in January next year and that Senate elections would be held on time.

Speaking about the government reforms, he said the incumbent regime would introduce such a system of the local bodies which would bring change in the country.

Ashrafi said that Islam gave the message of peace and love and was not spread by force.

He recalled the attack on Christian community in Lahore saying Muslims had donated their blood at the time.
