ISLAMABAD:

People who have taken refuge at the ‘panahgahs’ set up by the government were given a briefing on the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and how to stay safe.

The management of shelter homes on Tuesday conducted an awareness workshop at the Bhara Kahu panahgah to reinforce the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the safety of its residents and service providers.

The awareness session was part of an initiative to prevent an outbreak of the virus at the panahgahs, said Prime Minister's Focal Person on Shelter Homes Naseemur Rehman on Tuesday after conducting the fourth workshop at the Bhara Kahu shelter within a week.

"So far, we have arranged workshops at three shelter homes set up near Peshawar Mor, Tarlai and Sabzi Mandi to educate its service providers and residents about the health guidelines," he noted.

So far, he said that more than 50 service providers have been trained to ensure the implementation of SOPs at shelter homes in the twin cities.

Rehman added that the initiative will be replicated to other facilities across the country.

Apart from imparting health messages to the service providers, he shared that strict enforcement of precautionary measures will be ensured within the premises of all shelter homes to transform them into safe and secure places in wake of a second wave of the pandemic.
