IHC expresses annoyance over CDA

CJ Minallah says the elite had taken possession of the lands in the federal capital

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday expressed displeasure over the non-payment of compensation to the landowners whose property had been “acquired” by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and observed, “premier rightly said that two Pakistan exists – one for the powerful and rich, and the other for the poor”.

While hearing a case regarding the acquisition of land in different sectors of Islamabad, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah noted that residents, whose ancestral property was taken away, were suffering.

CJ Minallah said that the elite had taken possession of the lands in the federal capital whereas the poor did not even get compensation for their property.

The IHC CJ expressed annoyance over the CDA, saying that Prime Minister Imran Khan was correct in saying that “two” Pakistan existed of which one belonged to the authoritative and wealthy while the other to the poor.
