RAWALPINDI:

A representative body of the owners of private schools on Thursday said it will defy the government’s orders to keep educational institutions shut till January 11 and instead open up on the first day of the new year.

All Pakistan Private Schools and Colleges Association (APPSCA) has announced to reopen all private schools from January 1 January in defiance of the government’s date of January 11.

The announcement was made by APPSCA President Raja Ilyas during a joint meeting on Thursday in which office-bearers including Sardar Gul Zubair, Malik Hafeezur Rehman, Irfan Muzaffar Kayani, Muhammad Ibrahim, Hakim Abdul Rauf Kayani, Syed Munawar Hussain Naqvi, Tasneem Majeed, Malik Irfan, Madam Iram Zahid, and others also participated.

APPSCA president said that the destruction of the education sector would cause irreparable damage to the country. Therefore, he demanded immediate steps should be taken to resume educational activities. Ilyas said that if the reopening of educational institutions was not announced soon, the private educational institutions would be reopened from January 1 without waiting for the government’s orders.
