‘Extra beds available in Nishtar Hospital
Multan Nishtar Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Incharge Dr Aftab Ahmed said that extra beds and ventilators were available at the hospital to provide medical treatment to Covid-19 patients.
Speaking to APP on Friday, he stated that when he became incharge of the coronavirus ward at Nishtar Hospital in June, the hospital had faced very critical conditions. “The administration made special arrangements on an urgent basis during the first wave of the deadly virus as there were minimum resources and arrangements to treat the patients.”
He claimed that the hospital administration had made provided the best facilities to deal with the second wave of the virus. Dr Aftab told that 54 ventilators were available at coronavirus ward where 44 were operational while 10 were still in reserve.
Similarly, he said, the capacity of beds had also been increased to 94 out of which 61 were in the use of patients while 33 were in reserve. He highlighted that new monitors had been installed at the ward to take better care of patients. He further said the hospital administration was utilising all possible resources to ensure best arrangements for medical treatment of coronavirus patients.
Meanwhile, five more patients died of Covid-19 at said hospital in the last 24 hours. The death toll in Multan Nishtar Hospital rose to 293.
