CHICHAWATNI:

The prolonged delay for construction of a dual carriageway in Central Punjab had led to a rise in daily road accidents in Chichawatni

As per the details, the demand for a two-way interdistrict communication road had been ignored, and, reportedly, thousands of people injured in road crashes had become disabled whereas hundreds were killed.

According to the report, the public and social circles, including the business community of several districts of Central and South Punjab, had been demanding from Punjab government to make the inter-district link road connecting Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Vehari and Bahawalnagar districts.

Due to the dramatic increase in traffic pressure over the past few decades, the width of the access road was far less than required. Especially when the process of making Kamalia Sugar Mill started in December, when hundreds of tractortrolleys and trailers loaded with kamad arrive, the roads around the city of Kamalia become even narrower. Long queues of vehicles also cause difficulties for the public as the road was usually blocked at night.

As a result, traffic accidents had become a daily occurrence. In the last few years alone, thousands of people had been injured while hundreds of others had been permanently disabled.
