CM pledges third-party monitoring of projects

Development, law and order of South Punjab reviewed in marathon meeting

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Wednesday that third-party monitoring of every development scheme would be ensured.

Chairing a marathon video link meeting on ongoing projects, the Dera Ghazi Khan development package and law and order situation in south Punjab, he said the government had launched public welfare plans of billions of rupees. Addressing the meeting, the CM said the development process was going on speedily.

The chief minister said inquiries would be held on public complaints to punish those responsible, adding that those involved in any case of embezzlement would not be spared.

The CM directed the officials concerned to ensure timely utilisation of funds allocated for public welfare schemes, warning that unnecessary delays in the work were not acceptable. He directed the officers to go into the field to ensure transparency in work, adding that mere lip service would not work and everyone would have to perform.

Buzdar said the CM complaint cell would hold inquiries against those involved in corruption in development projects. The CM asked the officers to speed up the development work. The development projects should be completed in time by doing work in double shifts wherever needed, he said and warned.

He also said that action would be initiated on complaints regarding the use of agricultural machinery.

The chief minister said the prospects for a women university in DG Khan should be reviewed and recommendations forwarded.

He also issued instructions for early completion of the Koh-e-Suleman Development Authority board. He said the authority should submit a comprehensive plan about the development of the area.

“South Punjab would be developed as a model of a new era of development having started in the province,” he emphasised.

The chief minister asked the officers to work hard for the protection of the life and property of people, adding that a crackdown against gangs of criminals should continue. Indiscriminate action be initiated against the criminals, he added.
