Smog chokes several areas

LAHORE:

The recent cold and dry weather spell across Punjab continues to supplement the smog phenomenon as the relief provided by the winter rain subsided.

Environmental experts have decreed that the provincial capital has been engulfed by a thick blanket of smog as the air quality deteriorated up to a dismal 345 on the index.

Whereas, doctors warn citizens of limiting outdoor pursuits to minimize exposure to the choking air which may cause severe respiratory as well as eye distress.

Dr Abdul Rauf, a health practitioner, has asked the people of Lahore to take precautionary measures and asked them to not go out of the house aimlessly. Denizens of the metropolis have already started complaining of aggravated respiratory issues, fever, flu and cold.

“The atmosphere of Lahore is life threatening and it should be taken seriously,” a health practitioner told The Express Tribune, adding that the government must undertake mitigation measures on a war footing.
